What does Kafka do?

Kafka is a distributed event streaming platform that ingests real-time data, stores it in distributed logs, and distributes it to consumers. It supports data integration, stream processing, and fault tolerance, making it valuable for real-time analytics, log aggregation, microservices communication, and more for event-driven architectures.

How does Tracetest work with Kafka?

Tracetest allows you to trigger your cloud native application by placing a message on a Kafka queue. Tracetest allows you to select a trigger type of ‘Kafka’, enter a broker URL, and specify a topic and the message. Once you run the test, Tracetest will show the response from providing the message to Kafka, and will then display the associated trace that was generated by the message. This distributed trace will show you the processing that occurs because of  the message, such as consumers pulling the message off the queue and taking actions. You can then create test specs to ensure your system is operating properly. The created tests can be run as part of your CI/CD process to ensure the system continues to work properly as you create future releases.
